The RT (Russia Today) news has been featuring courageous reporting from Syria by one Maria Finoshina. Ersjdamoo could not find a photo of her wearing her characteristic blue “press” helmet, but the image of Ms. Finoshina (hopefully seen above) gives some sense of the perilous conditions surrounding her reports. Bullets are flying, and Finoshina is right there in the thick of it! Ersjdamoo is an old guy and can’t help thinking Maria Finoshina must be someone’s daughter. If she were my daughter, I would be alternately both proud of her and also scared to death for her safety.
If you have wi-fi access, you can get a Roku device for about $50, hook it to your TV, and subscribe at no additional cost to the RT news channel. There you will find an alternative to the propaganda barrage we keep getting from the USA “news” fakers. Sure, RT could also be propaganda, but you, a thinking person, can compare viewpoints and make up your own mind.
For comparison purposes, all the West has to rival Maria Finoshina would be the late Marie Colvin, affectionately known as “Old One-Eye” (image hopefully above). In late February of 2012, Old One-Eye hopped on a motor scooter and illegally entered Syria. With her hair flying in the wind and a black patch over her eye, Colvin flew past warnings she was entering a dangerous battle zone. Reporting from the then-embattled city of Homs, Old One Eye not surprisingly died in the midst of an intense artillery barrage. For propaganda purposes, the armed “dissidents” battling the legitimate government of Dr. Bashar Assad delayed the release of Ms. Colvin’s corpse for several days. Finally, the body of Marie Colvin was delivered to the Paris Commune on March 3, 2012. (Background: “Old One-Eye” Received by Paris Commune, Ersjdamoo’s Blog entry of March 5, 2012.)
Also deserving at least honorable mention for brave reporting is Lizzie Phelan (image hopefully above) who was described in the Ersjdamoo’s Blog entry of April 13, 2012 as “A rare creature, an honest reporter.” In an interview entitled, “US media manipulate Syria unrest,” Ms. Phelan claimed there has been a “media war” ongoing whose purpose is to defame the Syrian government and help bring it down. Phelan is currently head of newsroom for Russia Today’s Berlin-based Ruptly news video agency.
So here we have three brave female reporters – Maria Finoshina, Marie Colvin, and Lizzie Phelan – and is “the sisterhood” singing their praises? For Marie Colvin, “Old One-Eye”, maybe so since she leaned toward the Raytheon/Lockheed/Boeing stock surge prospects. But as for Maria Finoshina and Lizzie Phelan, where are the so-called “Feminists”? Do the “Feminists” always bow down to Raytheon/Lockheed/Boeing? Does that explain it?
