The FBI wanted to arrest Osama bin Laden while at the same time the CIA paid a friendly visit, in July 2001, to OBL in the Dubai American Hospital. It was a peculiar situation. Call it maybe the “peculiar institution.” (Background: Return of “Big Bad Wolf”, Ersjdamoo’s Blog, May 28, 2015.)
The original “peculiar institution” had been mostly located in the American South prior to the Civil War. Back then it wasn’t “politically correct” to say “slavery.” One said instead “our peculiar institution.” This helped to disguise an internal contradiction: How could there be slavery in the Land of the Free?
Osama bin Laden and al-Qaeda were still serving the CIA strategic agenda even while Osama was on the FBI’s “ten most wanted” list. Osama and al-Qaeda were still being used for “dirty operations” by CIA in places like Albania and Chechnya. There was another internal contradiction, like the “peculiar institution” in America’s antebellum South.
A “peculiar institution” occurred during the presidency of John F. Kennedy. Back then, Attorney General Robert Kennedy aggressively pursued actions against organized crime. However at the same time the CIA wooed La Cosa Nostra to obtain help assassinating Fidel Castro.
Michael Levine ran up against the roadblock of “peculiar institution” while working as an undercover agent for the DEA. Whenever Levine got too close to nabbing big-time narco-traffickers he kept finding CIA blocking his progress. Frustrated by the “peculiar institution”, Levine eventually authored two exposés: Deep Cover, and The Big White Lie.
People were all fired up in 1990 about Iraq having invaded Kuwait. Said then-President George Herbert Walker Bush, “This will not stand. This will not stand, this aggression against Kuwait.” Later though, trickery was revealed: US Ambassador April Glaspie had conveyed a “green light” to Saddam Hussein: Stated Glaspie to Saddam Hussein: “We have no opinion on your Arab – Arab conflicts, such as your dispute with Kuwait. Secretary (of State James) Baker has directed me to emphasize the instruction, first given to Iraq in the 1960’s, that the Kuwait issue is not associated with America.” All systems were “go”, or so it seemed to Saddam Hussein when he invaded Kuwait on August 2, 1990, just 8 days after Secretary of State James Baker had conveyed through April Glaspie a “green light” for the invasion.
The truer situation was revealed by my friend and mentor, the late Sherman H. Skolnick. Saddam Hussein and George Herbert Walker Bush, nicknamed “Poppy” Bush, had had a private business partnership between themselves. Weak oil sheikdoms of the Persian Gulf had been paying 25 percent kickbacks to Saddam Hussein. “Saddam shared the same with Bush, both becoming among the richest people on the planet,” reported Skolnick. “Bush the Elder and Saddam Hussein, just like a mafia gang, shook down, extracting ‘protection money’, from the weak oil sheikdoms of the Persian Gulf.” Somehow, though, there was “a falling out of disgruntled private business partners, Daddy Bush and Saddam Hussein.” In 1991, after the United States had “kicked ass” in Iraq, “Daddy Bush stole billions and billions of dollars of monies and assets belonging to Saddam, his former partner.”
There were “peculiar institution” elements in the Bush/Saddam business partnership. At least since the time of the JFK assassination, “Poppy” Bush had been a CIA boy. So too have been Bill and Hillary Clinton. It is all one big happy family, as documented in the book, Compromised: Clinton, Bush and the CIA, by Terry Reed and John Cummings.
Back when Hillary Clinton was Secretary of State, an amazing “Arab Spring” series of uprisings occurred. The Madame Secretary dreamed of creating new “Woodstock Nations” in places like Tunisia, Libya, and Egypt. She next turned her eyes upon Syria. “From now on, it’s a free concert!” Mrs. Clinton exuberantly proclaimed. All those happy people would soon be sitting around the campfires, smiling and singing “Kumbaya,” she imagined. (Background: Iran-Contra in Syria, Ersjdamoo’s Blog, February 13, 2012.)
Hillary Clinton must have thought the then-ISI were like a bunch of roadies there to assist setting up the performance stage. Bashar Assad would be “gone” in 3 months, she said. After that, the “roadies” could just sit back and enjoy the concert.
Well, Hillary’s pipe dream did not quite work out as she had envisioned. A secret report produced by the US Defense Intelligence Agency (DIA), dated August 12, 2012, now declassified, predicted that the “roadies” (ISI which later became ISIS) might declare an Islamic state through its union with other terrorist organizations in Iraq and Syria, which would create grave danger in regards to unifying Iraq and the protection of its territory.
The “peculiar institution”, the internal contradiction of slavery in the Land of the Free, caused Abraham Lincoln to call America “a house divided.” Said Old Abe: “A house divided against itself cannot stand. I believe this government cannot endure, permanently, half slave and half free.” Lincoln’s allusion to the “house divided” originates from the Bible. In Mark 3: 23-25, Jesus says:
…How can Satan cast out Satan?
And if a kingdom be divided against itself, that kingdom cannot stand.
And if a house be divided against itself, that house cannot stand.
The “peculiar institution”, the internal contradiction, the house divided, leads to pent-up inner national frustrations. Some release must be found, lest the Homeland itself explode. And so, like a safety valve on a pressure cooker, we periodically go bomb foreigners. Paraphrasing the late George Carlin, “We can’t do much right here in the United States [due to internal contradiction]. But we can sure bomb the sh** out of people. We do that really well.”
