Boy Cries "Wolf!" About July 4th

The Boy who cried WOLF – story time – bedtime Story – An Aesop’s Fable Story

How to sell newspapers? A “Big Crisis” might do it. Reports are rampant about “terrorist” attacks on U.S. soil this Fourth of July weekend. Is it just another “boy who cried wolf”? One day, in the Aesop Fable, the wolf really did come.

I detest these sorts of alarmist reports put out by persons who seek increased visits to their web sites. My friend and mentor, the late Sherman H. Skolnick, filed such alarmist reports under the heading, “Profits of Doom”. (Notice he spelled it “profits”, not “prophets”.)

I am extremely reluctant to bother with rampant rumors about impending doom. Regular readers of Ersjdamoo’s Blog know history and the past is more my theme than crystal ball fantasies. Yet even I must note at least the tea leaves about this upcoming weekend. What follows is what the tea leaves say, not necessarily a reliable indicator.

The Pentagon is maintaining a “higher alert status” for the Fourth of July due to potential threats from the Islamic State in Iraq and Syria. [1]

New York Congressman Peter King appeared on Fox News on or about July 1st “telling viewers that officials in New York are worried that there is going to be a dirty bomb attack this weekend.” [2]

Reports of a possible shooter at the U.S. Navy Yard in Washington on Thursday, July 2nd, touched off an hours-long lockdown at the military facility. [3] The Russia Today news network provided on the scene coverage of the Navy Yard event while it was happening. A LOT of law enforcement agencies rushed to the scene of what turned out to be a false alarm. Russia Today reported the presence of DC Metro Police, Secret Service, and FBI, among others. The “false alarm” may have in fact been a pre-planned drill, however, in my opinion.

In the memorable eulogy delivered by President Barack Obama on June 26th at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church in Charleston, South Carolina, the nation’s chief executive intermixed the high of sacred things with the profane of politics. Mr. Obama called for removing the old Confederate flag from the state’s capital. It “was a reminder of systemic oppression and racial subjugation.” [4] The Confederate flag however is also a symbol of resistance to centralized government. Like the President’s eulogy delivered on June 26th, where the high is intermixed with the profane, the Confederate flag has commingled detestable slavery and racism with a belief in limited government in its symbolism. (Background on Obama’s speech: Obama’s Speech Declassified, Ersjdamoo’s Blog, July 2, 2015.)

After the Confederate flag is outlawed, the next step in the plan seems to be to confiscate weapons. “By taking down that flag, we express God’s grace,” stated Mr. Obama. “But I don’t think God wants us to stop there.” Brothers and Sisters, once the Confederate flag is removed, the “vast majority of Americans, the majority of gun owners” will surely stop being “blind to the unique mayhem that gun violence inflicts upon this nation.” [4]

It was one Dylann Storm Roof who was the alleged shooter at the Emanuel African Methodist Episcopal Church on the evening of June 17, 2015. The name “Storm Roof” must be a sign or symbol in regard to the horrifying event, in my way of thinking. Nothing happens by accident. “Storm Roof” associated with the carnage has to carry some meaning. But what? This I have been pondering for awhile and a possible answer finally came to me: “Storm Roof” indicates a ceiling, a limit at which point people finally say, “Enough!” Conjectured is an “Operation Storm Roof”, in which terror and/or heightened fear of same at last reaches the ceiling of patience and the people beg the federal government to “do something.”

Sorry to have to report such negative fears, but I would be remiss if I did not at least note possible foundation for something bad coming this July 4th weekend, courtesy of the secretive alphabet soup of federal government. Have a safe and happy Fourth, and may all the above fears turn out to be nothing.
