Hillary Clinton, former U.S. Secretary of State, is to be grilled today on Capitol Hill. She is expected to testify “for at least six to eight hours.”
The grilling, to which Hillary Clinton is expected to respond by saying, “I don’t recall” and “I don’t remember”, is reported by Reuters to have “the deadly 2012 attack on the U.S. diplomatic mission in Benghazi, Libya” as its focus.
But the entire scheduled drama of Hillary’s testimony misses the forest for the tree. The “tree” is Benghazi. The “forest” is Arab Spring and the ongoing disaster of State Department foreign policy in the Middle East.
Back in 2006, there was hatched a plan for a “New Middle East”. The plan called for “constructive chaos” to be unleashed in the Middle East. Redrawing national boundaries would promote lasting peace, was the reasoning. Then, in 2011, the “constructive chaos” arrived via the “Arab Spring.” The map of Libya began to be redrawn. The map of Syria was also to be redrawn, but Russia had a naval port there and did not want to lose it. (Background: Trouble in Land of the Lesbians, Ersjdamoo’s Blog, October 16, 2015.)
So Hillary Clinton will not be questioned about the “forest” of Arab Spring, but only about one of the “trees”, Benghazi. And she will “not recall” much about that, seeing it was just one “tree.”
Focus I’d like to see: What role, if any, did the U.S. State Department have in fomenting the Arab Spring uprisings? Hillary Clinton would have to “recall” something about that, since she was Secretary of State when it happened.
Arab Spring uprisings in Libya and Syria destabilized those nations and precipitated the massive wave of refugees now arriving in Europe. This has caused a crisis there of “Biblical proportions”, as some of the newspapers used to say.
In Syria, Arab Spring did not go as foreseen. In January 2012, Secretary of State Clinton had said that President Bashar Assad of Syria would be “gone” within 3 months. Yet in Syria, Russia helped stymie State Department plans and the Arab Spring plot went disastrously awry. Also involved in the State Department plot was NATO, according to Patrick Henningsen, a geopolitical analyst from 21st Century Wire. He says that in Syria what has really been going on is “a proxy battle between the NATO countries and Russia”, using Syria as the playing field.
The grand plan has been a gradual encirclement of Russia. It began in the former Yugoslavia in the 1990s. There, Serbia, an historic ally of Russia, became Villain Number 1 in Western “news” portrayals.
(On June 28, 1914, a Serbian nationalist gunned down Archduke Franz Ferdinand and his wife, Sophie, as their motorcade maneuvered through the streets of Sarajevo. The Young Bosnians, a secret society of peasant students, was behind the assassination. The assassination precipitated a rapid descent into World War I. First, Austria-Hungary gained German support for punitive action against Serbia. Later, Russia had to intervene on the side of Serbia. Serbia has thus been an historic ally of Russia.)
Another version of the State Department’s “Arab Spring” plot was fomented in Ukraine. The gradual encirclement of Russia was to proceed by seizure of the Russian naval base in Crimea. But Russia inconveniently upset the plan by siding with Crimeans who wanted to align with Russia. Assisting the Crimeans were members of a Russian motorcycle gang, the Night Wolves. They are led by “the surgeon”, Alexander Zaldostanov, a former dental surgeon who found Jesus. The Jesus of Alexander Zaldostanov though is Russian Orthodox. And so, when he perceived the threat against Russia, that meant in turn a threat against his Russian Orthodox faith, and the Night Wolves were deployed into eastern Ukraine.
Now of course Russia has overtly intervened in Syria. A bombing campaign against the confusing nomenclature of ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh is underway. A naval port in Syria was to have been seized by the “Arab Spring” gang, but again, as in Crimea, Russia refused to lie down in the face of the gradual encirclement.
And that’s what’s been really going on. Do not expect the big picture of the true facts to emerge however from the miniscule grilling today of Hillary Clinton about Benghazi. And do not expect Victoria Nuland, Assistant Secretary of State for European and Eurasian Affairs, to be grilled anytime soon.
