In Loda, Illinois, an alleged disrespectful citizen ruffled the feathers of a village trustee. The provocateur was concerning the status of a rooster.
Thus reads the description for my latest video, “The Loda Rooster Affair”, published to YouTube on April 29, 2016. The clip, which clocks in at 3 minutes and 51 seconds, can hopefully be viewed at the top of today’s blog entry.
Loda is a village in east central Illinois, population about 400. An unusual report concerning Loda is found in the Champaign-Urbana News-Gazette, the newspaper so bad that it is good.
It so happens that one of the Loda Trustees was keeping a rooster as a pet. Some children loved their pet rooster.
But then another Loda resident came up to the Loda Trustee and said it was against the law to keep a rooster on the property. And more than this, it is alleged that the Loda resident acted in “a very disrespectful manner” toward the Trustee when he or she made a sort of citizen’s arrest about the rooster.
Late breaking is that the Loda Rooster Affair tension has escalated. At the Loda Board Meeting, the Trustee hinted darkly that she might even reveal to the public the name of the disrespectful citizen. “Next time, I will ‘out you’,” warned the Trustee.
As for the Rooster, it has been moved to an unknown, secure location.
