What to do about Julian Assange? “Can’t we just drone this guy?” wondered Hillary Clinton, suggesting thereby an assassination. Assange and his sources are in danger, yet certain cave dwellers can only complain about the promised raw meat not being delivered. Meanwhile, Deutsche Bank is the “canary in the coal mine”, presaging a cave-in for other European banks. And opposition to the Trans-Pacific Partnership (TPP) deal might just unite both the so-called “left” and “right.”
Thus reads the description for my latest video, “Danger To Assange”, published to YouTube on October 4, 2016. The clip, which clocks in at 8 minutes and 31 seconds, can hopefully be viewed at the top of today’s blog entry.
“Fringers” reacted with anger when Julian Assange didn’t release a massive data dump on Hillary Clinton and denied he wants to damage Clinton, reports the New York Daily News. “Right-wing conspiracy theorists suffered a Wiki-letdown Tuesday.”
But elsewhere, at about this same time and less noticed, Guccifer 2.0 leaked massive amounts of purported Clinton Foundation files. David Seaman, in a YouTube video, wonders if there is some connection between the “Wiki-letdown” on the one hand, and the Guccifer 2.0 data dump on the other.
Julian Assange had been scheduled to speak from a balcony at the Ecuadoran embassy in London. But then there were “security concerns” and Assange appeared via video link. Did the security concerns have anything to do with reports that Hillary Clinton, while U.S. Secretary of State, had said about Assange, “Can’t we just drone this guy?” (“Drone this guy” means assassinate him using a drone to do the job.)
Elsewhere, Deutsche Bank is the “canary in the coal mine”, presaging a cave-in for other European banks, according to at least one report. Deutsche Bank shares have fallen below €10, their lowest level since 1983. Economic tensions between the United States and Europe may mean that “We could be entering the last chapter of our transatlantic vision of hope,” stated former US ambassador to Germany, John Kornblum, who also warned, “of a ‘dangerous populism in both the new and old worlds.’” And Jeremy Warner of Britain’s Telegraph newspaper warned, “It’s not just Deutsche [Bank]. European banking is utterly broken… Deutsche is in truth no more than the canary in the coal mine.”
And totally ignored by mainstream American news are widespread anti-TPP activities. TPP is the planned Trans-Pacific Partnership deal, which will likely be snuck into being while people are distracted by the Christmas season. Several key Democratic Senators are calling on President Obama to renegotiate the Trans Pacific Partnership and are telling members of congress not to vote on the trade deal. However, many more in Congress up for reelection are not making it clear to voters where they stand on the issue.
Issues such as TPP are common ground on which the so-called “left” and “right” are not far apart. Both groups oppose TPP, the loss of jobs, constant foreign wars, and corporate takeover of the United States. But fake “left” (identity politics) and fake “right” (neo-conservatism) confuse and divide the two sides.
