Much sniping is going on between “PAY-triots” of both the left and the right. Their object is less about truth than about increasing their revenue. Two camps are emerging, the “Enemy Russia” faction and the “Enemy China” faction. Contrary to conventional thinking, the Republican Party is not united behind Donald Trump.
Thus reads the description for my latest video, “‘PAY-triots’ Sniping From Left and Right”, published to YouTube on December 14, 2016. The clip, which clocks in at 9 minutes and 46 seconds, can hopefully be viewed at the top of today’s blog entry.
They are the PAY-triots, persons from the “left” and “right” who make political videos and derive revenue based on the number of “views” they get. They get more “views” (and more revenue) if their “news” is especially shocking, upsetting, or astounding. Which comes first for these PAY-triots, the truth or their revenue?
Especially are the PAY-triots given to constant sniping at whomever is not on their side of the political spectrum. This in the end makes it harder for others to figure out whatever is REALLY going on.
There has been much talk about alleged Russian hackers and how they are supposed to have subverted the recent election in the United States. There are alarms that the Electoral College vote is about to be manipulated into defeating Donald Trump and installing Hillary Clinton as president. Is THAT what the “Russian hackers” claim is really about?
The hue and cry about “Russian hackers” is a plot to dump Trump, say some. A different take is that there is a sub-rosa political battle underway about who shall be THE BIG ENEMY. Russia had been the designated BIG ENEMY until Donald Trump surprisingly won the November 8th election. Now Trump and his camp are moving away from demonization of Russia and towards tough negotiations with China. Part of Trump’s negotiating strategy was to dare to phone Taiwan, which therefore infuriated China.
Two factions are battling. Who will U.S. foreign policy finally decide is the designated BIG ENEMY, Russia or China? If Republican Party Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell has his way, Russia will be cast as the supreme villain. Siding with McConnell is House Speaker Paul Ryan, also a Republican. Also consistently anti-Russian is Senator John McCain, another Republican.
But don’t worry about any Electoral College hanky-panky, we are told, because in the end the U.S. Congress would decide the outcome, if such was the case. OH YEAH!? Look at some of the Republican Party bigshots who are against Donald Trump’s friendlier relations with Russia. The Congress would decide any election dispute, and the Republicans control both houses, so don’t worry, we are told. And yet many prominent Republicans endorsed Hillary Clinton for president! Do not make the mistake of believing that the Republican Party solidly supports its president-elect.
