The soap opera continues, reported Ersjdamoo’s Blog on June 3rd. “As usual, we are left with a cliffhanger over the weekend. But as surely As The World Turns, new amazing developments will be entering the drama come next week!”
In a surprise development, London was attacked by bad driving, knife wielding terrorists on Saturday evening. This was unusual for the soap opera, which usually takes weekends off.
But now, in these Days of Our Lives, it is Monday and the soap opera continues. Saudi Arabia, Egypt, the United Arab Emirates and Bahrain have severed their ties with Qatar! This comes after President Donald Trump paid a visit to Saudi Arabia only about 10 days ago.
During the summer of 1973, all eyes were glued to TV screens, watching the Watergate hearings. How this happened was that the usual afternoon soap operas were pre-empted in order to bring the public uninterrupted Watergate coverage. (There was no cable TV and no CSPAN in those days.) But then after Len Colodny’s book, Silent Coup, was published in 1991, we found out the Watergate situation was itself a soap opera!
The discovery that Watergate had been a soap opera was troublesome for the powers that be. So around 2005, Mark Felt, retired Deputy Director of the FBI, stepped forward and said, “I was Deep Throat.” But really, Mark Felt was not Deep Throat. (Background: Mark Felt Was Not “Deep Throat”, Ersjdamoo’s Blog, December 12, 2012.)
A sequel to the original Watergate soap opera is underway. The sequel is titled, “Russia-gate” and features not just one Deep Throat but a Baker’s Dozen of same at least. The Washington Post returns in its former role of Deep State actor. That newspaper is now owned by Jeff Bezos, head of the Amazon retail giant. In 2013, Amazon signed a $600 million cloud computer contract with the CIA. And CIA was connected with the original Watergate via a fake “Pentagon Papers” concoction which served to deflect blame for the Vietnam War away from itself. President Richard Nixon’s White House “Plumbers” unit had burglarized the office of Daniel Ellsberg’s psychiatrist, and Rand Corporation employee Ellsberg had leaked the “Pentagon Papers” to the New York Times. All this is to be reminisced in an upcoming “historical” movie, tentatively titled “The Post.”
