Trump Wins “Referendum”

The big “referendum” in a suburban Atlanta district is done. Georgia Republican Karen Handel has defeated Democrat Jon Ossoff for a congressional seat.

“Democrats also lost a special election in neighboring South Carolina on Tuesday, where Republican Ralph Norman easily prevailed over Democrat Archie Parnell…” [1]

There have been other of these “referendums” since President Donald Trump was sworn in back in January. “Democrats are 0 for 4 in congressional elections this year, having earlier lost races to fill vacant seats in Kansas and Montana.” [1]

Tweeted Trump late in the evening of June 20th: “Well, the Special Elections are over and those that want to MAKE AMERICA GREAT AGAIN are 5 and O! All the Fake News, all the money spent = 0.”

In this part of the movie, the embattled president wards off the Munchkins, and then follows the Yellow Brick Road to a change in the healthcare law. This should be coming to the fore around Friday, June 23rd, coincident to a New Moon. In this weekly serial, a crisis build-up typically climaxes on Fridays, and the audience is left with a cliff-hanger over the weekend.

Sometimes all the excitement of this movie gets to be too much. As a daily antidote I take an hour or two to read some ponderous book. I am re-reading now The Secret Team, by the late Colonel L. Fletcher Prouty. It charts the rise of the CIA since around 1947. Among other things, Prouty claims the so-called “Pentagon Papers” really deserve to be called the “CIA Papers.” A fake history on this subject from Hollywood, USA, is scheduled for release around January 2018. “Is Steven Spielberg’s Trump-Timed ‘The Post’ the Start of a New Wave of Movies That Matter?” asks Owen Gleiberman in Variety (online). Gleiberman got “a shiver of anticipation” when he found out about the movie. [2]

Gleiberman says the film has begun shooting and is set for release later this year. A different source had indicated around January 2018 for release. [3] Somehow the movie is tentatively named “The Post”, even though Rand Corporation analyst Daniel Ellsberg leaked the CIA Papers (“Pentagon Papers”) to the New York Times.
