Memo Wars are erupting in Washington, DC. Last Friday, coincident to a 666 point drop in the Dow, the Devin Nunes memo was made public. Now, a counter-memo from the Democrats is in the offing.
Griff Jenkins reports that trying to keep up with developments is keeping him very busy. Will President Donald Trump decide to redact portions of the Democrat memo?
General John Kelly, White House Chief of Staff, mentioned that the DOJ/FBI team was scrutinizing the Dem memo for security issues.
Congress-person Trey Gowdy apprehends a sneaky trap in the Dem memo, now under scrutiny: Maybe the Dems purposefully inserted things which would have to be redacted, so that they can then complain about the redactions. “The Democrats are politically smart enough,” Gowdy stated, “to put things in the memo that require either the Bureau or the Department of Justice to say, ‘It needs to be redacted,’ therefore it creates this belief that there’s something being hidden from the American people.”
Or, is Gowdy’s theory part of a cover-up plot itself? Decide as you see fit.
On top of the above two memos, another separate memo has been re-released, this time in a less-redacted form. Authored by Senators Chuck Grassley and Lindsey Graham, the new version reportedly gives more information on British agent Christopher Steele’s role in propping up a FISA search warrant. It contends that Steele lied to the FBI or the British court, or materially false statements were made.
The latest Grassley/Graham memo also points to “shocking coordination between Fusion GPS, Christopher Steele, and the Obama State Department.” The “Obama State Department” is, in other words, the Hillary Clinton/John Kerry State Department.
Former U.S. Attorney Joseph DiGenova says the Grassley/Graham memo reveals “a much larger plot.” Stated DiGenova: “The Grassley/Graham memo establishes beyond any doubt that the FBI knowingly deceived the FISA court about the information that it was presenting to them, lied to them about the fact that it was verified information (which it was not; which the law requires), and now we know that additional Clinton allies, including Sidney Blumenthal, were involved in the transmission of false information, unverified information, to the FBI through State Department officials.”
