The Function at the Junction

The Function At The Junction- Shorty Long- 1966.

To the Aztecs, “[s]pace and time were bound together and formed an inseparable whole. There was a particular ‘time’ for each place…” Each particular space-time “possessed its own virtues and powers”. It was each particular locality of individual points of space-time which brought about whatever event. The individual had no control. “Only the gods were free, and only they had the power to choose – and therefore, in a profound sense, to sin.” [1]

Lots of curves – you bet!
And even more when you get
To the junction.

The little train that was rolling down the tracks to the junction experienced lots of curves, in the old TV series, Petticoat Junction. The truer geometry is not what is immediately accessible to our senses, but adds a fourth dimension. Hermann Minkowski’s geometry introduced a four-point coordinate system: t, x, y, and z. The question of “gravity” was supposedly solved by Isaac Newton yet, in truth, he only provided a mathematical description. “To this day, we do not have a physical description [of gravity].” A part-explanation was offered by Albert Einstein in which gravity manifests as a curvature of space-time. Einstein replaced Minkowski space-time with a curved space-time manifold. [2]

When the little train that was rolling down the tracks reached Petticoat Junction, there were even more curves!

Lots of curves – you bet!
And even more when you get
To the junction.

The curves were all bending inward toward a particular locality, the Aztec spot of individual points of space-time which brought about whatever event. The individual had no control. Only the gods were free. Paradoxically though, by accepting the will of the god, the individual became free. “Thy will be done,” says the Christian, who thereby escapes three-dimensional causality.

Today, January 6, 2021 (the time), there is to be a massive gathering in Washington, DC (the locality). But it is the particular locality in space-time which brings about the event. What will happen? Only the gods can freely choose, because they are not constricted by the three dimensions only. All others are actors on the stage – unless, paradoxically, they surrender to the will of the god.
